If you want to move forward in life, doesn’t matter what area, you have to take action.  Sure activity can be uncomfortable.  With every action you improve your skill and since when does improvement come without a little discomfort?   Why do so many people stay stuck where they are?  Because it’s comfortable.  It’s the great irony of life.  Stay comfortable and eventually become uncomfortable because you’ve never done anything or get uncomfortable now so you can enjoy the comforts of life later on.

The reasons for not taking action can be somewhat convincing on the surface:  too busy; it didn’t work in activity_iconthe past; can’t afford it; my situation is different; we’re in a recession; everyone else has an advantage; etc, etc.  Taken at face value these seem plausible but the reality is that these are just excuses used to justify not doing anything.  The real reason for not taking action is FEAR.  Fear of not being good enough, of being rejected, of looking stupid, fear of failure.  Fear is the biggest lie there is.

Fear steals dreams, it steals progress, and it steals purpose.  The best way to get past fear is to take action.  It doesn’t even have to be the right action and you don’t even have to be happy about taking the action.  The fact that you’re taking action is moving you past the fear.  With every step forward you gain confidence and learn skills so that you can take the next step and then the next.  Pretty soon you’re making progress without even realizing it.  Life is changing and things are getting better.  You’ve moved out your comfort zone and kicked fear to the curb!

My encouragement for you this week is that you will take one action every day that will move closer to your goal, whatever your goal may be.
