Yep, it’s Minnesota State Fair time and that means sun and corndogs. It’s nice to have something to look forward to. Happiness comes in little packages! This is a short-term forecast, but what about the long-term forecast?
When you think of your future, what do you see? Chances are you have some long-term goals that are sunny and bright, not cloudy and gloomy.
Sometimes you have situations going on in your business that make it difficult to see that bright outlook. If you focus on what other people are doing, for instance, your vision can get cloudy and you can quickly lose sight of where you’re going.
This is particularly true when you worry about the ‘competition’. When you realize that no one can do exactly what you do in the way that you do it, ‘competition’ ceases to be an issue and you can keep your focus where it belongs – on your bright, sunny future.
That is why the first exercise I do with my clients when we are working on their business is to identify their vision, including their mission statement and core values. Absolutely no one will have the exact same vision, mission, and values as you. It serves as a reference point when your outlook starts to look a little dim.
Keep your eye on your long-term goal, appreciate the little things in the meantime, and enjoy what you’re doing!
